Boost performance tips for your HTC HD2

576Mb ROM USERS ONLY
Change:
HKLM/System/StorageManager/FATFS/CacheSize To: 65536
this tip enables a 32mb filesystem cache. it is unsuitable for 1.66 roms as will necessitate a hard reset.
Change:
HKLM/System/StorageManager/FATFS/EnableCache To: 1
this enables the filesystem cache (it may be set to 0 for disabled)
Change:
HKLM/System/StorageManager/Profiles/HDProfile/FATFS/EnableCacheWarm To: 1
Honestly, im not sure to the exact function of this, but it seems to make sense run smoother. Definately improves landscape album art scrolling.
ON the microsoft website its listed as a “pre-warming cache feature”. It would seem to preload commonly used data, in a similar fashion to superfetch on a PC, perhaps.
Do not set this bit on WM6.5.x ROMs, this only works on 6.5 for some odd reason
Suitable for ALL ROMs

A Short Guide to HTC HD2 Cases
If you’ve got a bit of kit as nifty as the HTC HD2, chances are you’re going to want to keep your baby as safe as possible – particularly with that massive touchscreen display just begging for something to scratch it. Here’s my pick of a few different HTC HD2 cases that will ensure your phone is protected from the elements as well as keeping it looking pretty darned snazzy.
If it’s security you’re after but you don’t want to make your phone bulky and enormous, the FlexiShield Skin for HTC HD2 is probably your best bet. A strong and durable silicone case fits snugly around the phone and protects from any knocks and bumps your phone might encounter during the day. The rubbery-texture should also provide extra-strength grip to help you hold onto it in the event of a severe attack of butterfingers. And if, horror of horrors, you do find yourself loosing your grip, the case should absorb the worst of the shock. Although I wouldn’t recommend throwing it at the floor in order to test it!
Fancy something a bit more suave and substantial? The Executive Leather Book Case for HTC HD2 is a sophisticated piece made of high quality leather. It’s ideal for business meetings and the office, or simply for marching about pretending that you’re busy and important, like I do. With slots to hold credit cards or business cards, you can keep everything you need in the same place whilst keeping your phone safe, secure and accessible.
But I think my favourite of the bunch is the Noreve Tradition A Case for HTC HD2. This is a top quality leather case which like the Executive Book Case has an extra slot for credits cards. The case gives you easy access to all the important bits, including the camera lens, headphone jack and dock connector. I particularly like the sleek magnetic closing clip that keeps your phone locked away safely. As a bonus, it also comes with a detachable belt clip, so if you’re the sort of person who enjoys wearing your mobile phone like a gun, have at it!
You can find a complete range of HTC HD2 accessories at MobileFun.co.uk, from car chargers to desk cradles to Bluetooth headphones.

HTC HD2 official updates

HTC has released two official updates for the HTC HD2 available on the UK Support website.
1. Update for HTC HD2 Facebook Albums
According to the description, “this update for your phone’s Facebook client restores the ability to view your friends’ photo albums”. I personally never had any issues with Facebook photo albums.
2. Update for HTC HD2 Java Message Pop up
This update seems to fix a security issue by preventing “javascript messages from automatically opening when the message notification pops up. This will prevent your phone from opening unwanted and unwelcome applications that are sent to you”.

T-Mobile HD2 first shots

With a little more than two weeks remaining until the highly anticipated HD2 hits T-Mobile, we’ve got some more exclusive T-Mobile HTC HD2 pics for our readers.
Windows Phone 7 Series ROM spotted on the HTC HD2
HTC HD2 was captured running the new Windows Phone 7 Series ROM, more info according to www.winmo.nl:
- Multilanguage
- Ultra fast for an early build ( “So fast that it looks like on WM 6.5 the Snapdragon only ran at half its power”)
- TomTom is bundled with that ROM
- No SMS problem (They are referring to the SMS issues on WM 6.5 on most Leo ROMs)
- Zune part of the phone is not working on this ROM (error reports, etc.)
Guide to HTC HD2 docks and desk stands
One of the hottest accessories around at the moment for the HTC HD2 is a desk stand or dock. There are a few different styles available, so I thought I’d run through our most popular HTC HD2 Docks and highlight some of the differences between them.
Mercury Desk Stand For The HTC HD2
The Mercury Desk Stand is available on it’s own and also features in the HTC HD2 Platinum Pack. While the stand on it’s own won’t charge or sync your phone, it has built in cable holders to keep your data cable close to hand and is a great way to show off your HTC HD2 to everyone in the office.

HTC HD2 Desktop Charging Cradle
Straight forward and simple, just drop your HD2 into the charging cradle and it will charge and sync with your PC.

This cradle is a great way to charge your phone and a spare battery at the same time. Like the desktop cradle mentioned above, it connects to a spare USB port on any PC or laptop and will allow you to sync your phone with your computer while it charges. If you have a second battery for your phone this will save you the hassle of having to keep swapping the batteries over, just to charge them.

Deluxe HTC HD2 Desktop Charging Cradle
The Deluxe cradle is similar in many ways to the one shown above, but has a classier, glossy finish and a fold down cover that hides the battery charging port when not in use. It will sync and charge your phone at the same time and holds your phone at the perfect angle for reading emails and text messages.

HTC HD2 Car Docking Kit – CU S400
Who says that car holders have to be dull? Certainly not HTC! The CU S400 Car Upgrade Kit is a stylish way to mount your HD2 in the car. The Dock part of the kit consists of a holder for the phone and a rotating mount that you connect a car charger on to. What’s even more interesting is that when docked, the HD2 automatically goes into car mode, switching to a landscape ‘navipanel’ with larger icons to make it easier to use while driving.
Genuine HTC HD2 Extended Battery
You might be wondering why a battery is listed in a HD2 Desk Stands post, but as well as being an extended battery for the HTC HD2, the replacement back cover for your phone has a built in desk stand. This makes it a great choice if you enjoy watching videos on your phone as it gives you an ‘always with you’ desk stand and an extra battery too.

We’re still waiting for HTC to confirm a Genuine HD2 Desk Dock, but as soon as they do we’ll update this page with the details. To make sure you don’t miss anything subscribe to the RSS feed using the links at the top of the page. If you’ve not see a Desk Stand here that does what you’re looking for, why not take a look at the full range of HTC HD2 Desk Stands.
